I have issues with DUN with my fin.  I get the phone to tether a ok, but about 3 minutes later it will disconnect and I have to unplug the usb and plug it back in and choose to reconnect the line.

I have a laptop with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.  I know that tethering doesn't kick off that often, is there anything I can do on the phone or is it something I have to change in the OS on the laptop?

Solved it.  The problem was in the MIP [mobile IP]

System Info
1. Menu
2. Settings
3. Press on the voice button
4. Generic User Code, SPC, or MSL

to get to the system settings

8.Data Setting

is the option I selected.

I verified that DUN was enabled.

1.DUN mode

This stands for "Dial up Networking".  Make sure its ON.  This is the first option.

Then I went to the data setting menu again by using the back button and selected option 2.

2.MIP Mode

This stands for Mobile IP.  I selected "Auto" in the menu that follows.  I now have a constant connection from Tethering the line.

I use syringa wireless a small carrier based out of Idaho.  The speed isn't great but It comes in handy when you are traveling with a laptop and need to check bank statements or emails.
