i got the finnesse and am very happy with it.... but (ACK its the all dredded BUT)

The usb cable i thought would allow me to upload and download music pictures and videos does not seem to work.

problem is, even after vista installs the drivers i cant see the phone. either as the phone or as a drive.  is there a way to allow it to transfer files ?? at this point it looks like it is only an alternate charger for the phone.

im using Vista basic.

It is called a data cable. You're having issues with your install. Try calling Samsung to walk you through your OS install.

What access do you have using the cable? I can only access the phone as a MSD with card installed. Media Player recognizes the card and I can transfer music to it, but MP insists on creating a new folder called music. I can play songs this way, but when I check the card storage for music, even after moving them to the correct (eg: /music) folder, I still see 0 bytes used. Is there something wrong with the OS install, or was the Fin released before any transfer app was developed/modified for it, like PC Studio?

I haven't used the cable yet. And when I do I'll be using it on XP. I do know that the OS refuses to let you transfer music to the 150mb of internal storage so I can see why it would require a card installed to use as a mass storage. It also sort of makes sense why it shows 0 mb. This could've all been avoided if Samsung tried to make their OS a bit more smart.

It would have been nice had they waited a while before they released it so we wouldn't have to go through all these gyrations. Then again, I've yet to see a product launch that didn't make you wait for one thing or another. I just hope they don't leave us hanging in the wind.

I actually like trying to solve problems like these and if it betters the experience of others, so much the better. Work, work, work, work, work Grin Samsung should put us on their payroll or at least make MPCS give us some free airtime Wink, though I'd settle for a workable media manager. What can I say, I'm a cheap date.

At least it appears the Finesse is a very popular phone. I see the reports from supposed reps on news sites. This could be just corporate cat and mouse, but I still like to hear at least some positives.
