Ok so i met this really official metro guy yesterday and asked him when Finesse users were going to have youtube available... he says, "NEVER"!!!

At first i was appalled at his brutal honesty and total disrespect of my feelings by not telling me what i wanted to hear..."perhaps next month... next season... next year....not even next decade!!!!"

so i swallowed the bitter pill and asked him ..."why?"..
He says..."the finesse is actually an old phone and is just plain incapable of such outstounding feats such as streaming videos from youtube and the likes".

So i say..." but some people from other carriers that use the samsung finesse have reported youtube functionality on their phones."

He went on to dismiss these reports as mere rumors...
I quietly hung my head down and faced the reality that i might never see the day when this $349.00 phone (which i might add i coulda got a ps3 instead) will play the contents of youtube...
can anyone offer me a flicker of hope... or lie to me or something..ANYTHING!!!

The community is trying to work on it. The problem is we have to hack the firmware itself, which is similar to hacking Windows (well ok Windows portable). We need a massive effort to get to that point. If you hack it yourself, it is possible to develop a brew app that adds all that functionality but you're looking at $400 at very minimum for the single account. Still, how are you going to get trained in BREW code?
We're going around that method. We're tapping into disabling parts of the firmware. We actually have access to another carrier's firmware, and also another phone that appears to function similarly. We might be able to hybrid these together, or learn enough to figure out what to toggle. Things are looking good on our end, logically.
I don't see why it would not be available. Go to youtube and pull up a video, the phones playback feature starts but the video file is not supported. This is a simple hack to have the phone support these videos and automatically stream them. If I knew how to hack it, I would but I dont, so I will patiently wait.
It was simple, until we found out how many layers of duct tape they put on the code to keep us out. Seriously, you put that on the inside of code and the sticky part never seems to want to come off. Grrr!
