Now the cartoon network is playing more than just cartoons... and they brazenly advertise it through a pseudo-music video, the singer so proud of the news.  But am i truly the only viewer who finds this change a disappointment?  It _is_ the cartoon network, right?

I hate it. I grew up on cartoon cartoons, and now I feel like I have nothing to watch.

It's like they fired Genndy Tartakovsky or something. I would still be happy to be watching the 15th season of Dexter's Lab. I'm sure I'm not the only one here. I have to settle with Phineas and Ferb (really good show btw).

Remember, VJ's were the downfall of MTV. Reality shows finally killed it. CN is headed that way now.

I'd say 1 in 4 shows on Cartoon Network are decent. This time 3 years ago it was 1:2. You have to go back 10 years to have a truly zen experience on that channel (although it's always been true that they overplay Scooby Doo and T&J). What they're doing with the channel, including all the Adult Swim crap [like the Tim and Eric Show Good Job, aka all the C rate crap] needs to be on CN2 (so I don't have to worry about what my kids watch). Robot Chicken is an acquired taste, but it deserves a spot on Adult Swim.

And last but not least, they should've expanded Toonami to be a 5 hour romp of dubbed and edited A rate Anime, and expanded it to it's own channel. I for some odd reason absolutely love to chill out to this stuff. It's just fluffy yet just edgy/exotic enough to wind my day down pretty gently.

i think it is sooo cool that you are so passionate about this topic Smiley

Definitely agree on the CN2 idea- i have a 4 year old, but I still pretty much control the TV altogether, so it's okay for now...

And you are right on the money with your comparison to MTV... even MTV2 now doesn't always play videos (from the few times I've gotten to check it out).

oh well..

We could try boycotting the channel.  I'm big on boycotting Smiley lol

The "live" shows they imported from Britain suck.  Being somewhat of an insomniac, I watched a few eps the other night and it was TRASH.

But as long as they play The Boondocks, Samurai Champloo, RC, and Family Guy, I wont be as pissed off.

They did create Boomerang (another CN channel spin-off) but I don't know what programing they use.  I miss the Herculoids and stuff like that I used to watch on Saturday mornings....

I tend to check out Ani-Mondays on SciFi (or tuesdays?  I forget which one, I'm on 9 hours sleep the past 3 days...)  I caught this HOT anime called "Dead Leaves..." SUPER DOPE.  I suggest checking it out.  Ani-Mondays is hit or miss though.  Some stuff is GHEY.

@ Liesalldamnlies

True, that show is kind of fun, i was surprised to find once when I watched it.

But why do they have to constantly mess around w/ Adult Swim?

What's wrong with good old Sea Lab, Space Ghost, even Brak show is okay, and i do love ATHF... Shakezula, the milkshake i love to hate... lol

CN needs to be the channel to get you to watch their other channels. Newbs to the channel will disregard all of it as crap now. It's a cold day in hell when I consider shows like chowder and flapjack to be the cream of the crop (for getting into CN).

And sorry, I'm not going to do a once a week thing like Ani-Mondays for a hit or miss. It has to be superior or on every day. Especially not with current TV ad policy. I get 5 minutes of show and have to pay for it with 2 minutes of ads and the monthly bill.

I was just throwing that out there since you were into Anime...  Either way, check "Dead Leaves."  AMAZING movie. A little strange, but completely badass.

I also just saw "The Professional" which was also INCREDIBLE.  LOVED it.

I wish CN would play full length movies!

They used to play all sorts of generic anime movies (DBZ and the like) which seemed to lead into Toonami. There they started to play more cutting edge stuff but cut and dubbed. Due to complaints I think, they made Adult Swim but it only started out as one day a week. Still, I think they got a movie in every time, of which I feel like crap that I didn't get to see all of those gems (simply because I prefer dubbed even if it's a bit more low ball). Or maybe that's when they went to one day a week and weekends.

It's like they took a cult brand and rubbed poop all over it, the way it is now. It stinks, looks bad, and needs to basically be thrown out.

ohhhhh goodness, i know!!! i just cannot imagine the human being(s) that invented those shows, nor the one(s) who enjoy them...  it's a nauseating level of talentlessness...

I get 5 minutes of show and have to pay for it with 2 minutes of ads and the monthly bill.

and yes, thank you.  someone explain this please... oy...

ybom, think, yes, the excrement analogy definitely deserves an email read on adult swim lol

I was in looove with DBZ that show defined my childhood. Kamehameha and all that, i still know a lot about it. They even showed the original DragonBall which was also good. But then GT came and well... ANyways, the only good thing to watch now is like the first few hours of Adult Swim and like thats it. The Tim and Eric crap is shiite and dont even get me started on that British BS. Does anyone share the HATE that i do with Squidbillies? That show is the epitome of crappy TV programming on that channel that I have ever seen.

Adult Swim is filled with so much crap lately, i hate what its become. I remember when they had more Japanese Anime on Cartoon Netwrok, now its filled with so many filler garbage shows like "The Mighty Booch" WTF is this crap...I mean if i was on Acid it would seem as an amazing show but why are they filling up with trash like that that makes no sense and random garbage programs from the UK...If i wanted to see a boring UK show I'd watch channel 2 (WPBT) and english people explain condensation to the public (From Family Guy)....ugh!...I miss a lot of the good Anime they had...at least they have Bleach which is the best Anime to ever happen to Cartoon Network, shit i even miss toonami and watching all of Sailor Moon (Except Stars which the fuckers never want to Sub)...damn...i just watch everything i watch online and then they wonder why there ratings are on the floor and having to resort to placing other programs than cartoons....they might as well change the name to the "Cartoon and other Trash Network" now. Does anyone ever write them about their programming?

Generally, I doubt that they would care much about an email.

But what do you guys think?

I do think if a large group of viewers wrote with similar comments, they would pay attention.

oh, though i do have to say, i enjoy ben 10 (both young and teen versions).

Superjail is absolutely awesome though. I actually like it a touch better than I ever liked Ren and Stimpy, which says quite a lot. Reminds me of the original Heavy Metal movie.
