I recently ran across the wiki article of the game the Green Glass Door, and it brought back memories from my youth at church on Wednesday nights. We would do everything from things you'd find on
Who's Line is it Anyways? to full church Capture the Flag with glowsticks at night. Every once in a while we threw dance parties with a DJ, and those nights tended to be boring for everyone.
Well, now that I'm done with that, I thought I'd throw some of the creativity I soaked up out there for some of you to alleviate some boredom. I am never a bored person anymore (haven't been since high school), and I hope I can help those in need of some previous brainstorming excursions I've gone on.
First stop. What do you do alone for free, stuck in one of societies many prisons of action and freedom? Why not train a familiar? Basically, you create a robot in your brain. I've been limited before in such ways, where I still needed to remember something, and I created a friendly notepad to take notes on whatever I needed.
Now that that potentially creepy subject is out of the way, what do you do with a couple of friends that doesn't require much setup? I suggest playing
psychiatrist, or detective (make up a confusing story and have people ask questions to figure out).
What about more along the lines of a card game? I suggest
1000 BWC or pick up a low learning curve game from
Looney Labs. If you get Fluxx from them, I suggest Zombie Fluxx instead - it's basic fluxx beginner's deck that you can make is more balanced than 4.0 (and adding in the Zombies fits in really well for Halloween!). Also, most of Looney Labs's card games are online multiplayer, I think Java. I wouldn't mind having a Fin playgroup if anyone wants to...
More extroverted and maybe bigger? Ultimate, Gatorball, meetup.com, bonfire campout (check your local laws), car piling taco run, or even modifying your daily life to midnight conditions!
Basically, this topic is to help churn your creativity. Post if you want some help (as I'm leaving notify on for it). I'll find something for your stipulations. And this time I won't charge you
