I'm making this post as the de facto hub for any discussion on what's going on; bleeding edge community work here! Sorry there isn't a repository set up, :smirk:

Current Community Projects (August):
1. OS Flash Files Modding, maybe.
2. Community Manual / Tech Docs
3. Working around BREW.

For those who can, please edit this post to reflect the current agenda if I don't.

Can those who are researching the file system and/or working on the BREW please post updates? Please, go into as much detail as you want. Heck even brainstorm here if you want - never know what mountains we can get you around.

Here is cell B3 (from the SPC generator xls spreadsheet), expanded by function. I basically did this by hand. Didn't think about using replace (grrr oh well). Funny thing is if you go step by step, slowly, you'll get your SPC. Anyways, first to decrypt it gets a cookie!
Code:
=
if(
len($b$3)=11,
right(
(
power(
2,5+(
left(
left($b$3,3),1)+
right(
left($b3,3))+
mid(
left($b$3,3),2,1)))-1)
*(
right($b$3,3)+199)
*(23
+(
left(
right($b$3,8),1)+
right(
right($b$3,8),1)+
mid(
right($b$3,8),3,1)+
mid(
right($b$3,8),5,1)+
mid(
right($b$3,8),7,1)+
mid(
right($b$3,8),2,1)+
mid(
right($b$3,8),4,1)+
mid(
right($b$3,8),6,1))),6),"Need 11 digit ESN")

I've managed to get the cell much smaller. I am also now basing it off of my update. I am renaming it back to a calculator for update 1.2.

Code:
=if(len($A$1)=11,right((power(2,5+left($A$1)+mid($A$1,3,1)+mid($A$1,2,1))-1)*(right($A$1,3)+199)*(23+mid($A$1,4,1)+right($A$1)+mid($A$1,6,1)+mid($A$1,8,1)+mid($A$1,10,1)+mid($A$1,5,1)+mid($A$1,7,1)+mid($A$1,9,1)),6),"Get SPC here!")

For the last 10 digit hidden code, I was wondering if it could be this "IMEI" code I keep seeing on google. Anyone know if there's a difference between the MEID and the IMEI?

"IMEI

(International Mobile Equipment Identifier)

A 15-digit number (composed of four parts) that uniquely identifies an individual wireless device. The IMEI is automatically transmitted by the phone when the network asks for it. A network operator might request the IMEI to determine if a device is in disrepair, stolen or to gather statistics on fraud or faults.

IMEI is most commonly used in GSM and WCDMA (UMTS) phones. It is embedded in the phone, not the SIM card. CDMA phones use a similar type of number called an ESN."

"MEID

Mobile Equipment IDentity

An ID number that is globally unique for each new CDMA mobile phone in the world. It identifies that phone to the network, and can be used to flag stolen or lost phones.

MEID is a replacement for ESN (electronic serial number). MEID began replacing ESN in 2005.

See: ESN

ESN numbers are 32-bit, while MEID numbers are 56-bit.

A 32-bit ESN means there are only 4 billion unique ESN numbers. Combined with other constraints, enough CDMA phones were produced by the end of 2005 that the industry started to run out of unique ESNs.

With 56 bits, MEID provides for over 16 million times as many unique numbers as with the ESN system, ensuring the world will not run out of numbers again.

However, MEID support must be added to all new CDMA phones, and all CDMA networks must be upgraded to support MEID.

MEID is equivalant to IMEI for GSM and WCDMA phones. MEID is also designed to be compatible with IMEI for phones that include both CDMA and GSM/WCDMA technology."

Just as an FYI.  MEID is in HEX, and IMEI is in decimal.  They are the same number.  The ESN is the smaller of the ids.  If a phone is MEID capable, the ESN is a psuedo ESN, created off of the MEID, and not guaranteed to be unique.
