Here's your chance to say what the Finesse needs, software, for future application developers! Speak your mind.

We NEED a way to view YOUTUBE videos!!! The Finesse doesn't support the 3gp format that the youtube website utilize. I figure an update, mod, or 3gp player install or embed would work ... but we need someone to do it.

And if there is currently a way to view youtube videos that I'm not aware of, please share this information.

Thanks

First and foremost a damn file manager. Second a better music player or at least have the ability to add a decent equalizer.

Note: Not sure if it's a bug or I'm misinterpreting what it means, but on the mp it shows what appears to be the song number with number of songs loaded (ie: 54/200). If I'm correct, then the song total number is WAY friggin' off. I've never had it rise above 200 even when I select all songs (I've got 1495 loaded). Also the sort algorithm is weak at best. I keep getting an inordinate number of same songs played over again.

Yep, a better mp would be nice.

Y, I thought the Fin didn't support streaming videos. I seem to remember someone saying that either here or on another site. From what I remember, it was MPCS that made the decision, at least for the time being. The phone does have the capability to handle it, IIRC.

If it can do Flash 5, then it can most definitely do streaming video. Otherwise you'd be questioning the network itself and not the capability of the phone. It has the support for the protocol, a near identical phone supports it, and when you try to stream a mp4 it goes into various states of lockdown and gives the same error as every other format, although the phone does support the format.

The problem is one of two things. 1 - Being locked out. 2 - software errors. There could've been an unresolved glitch in the phone and they didn't want to spend any more time working on it since it was 2 weeks from launch.

The Finesse needs a way to change the Phone Lock "screensaver" pics. I want my girls' photos (daughters, not what you may have been thinking) there, not random windows default background craptastic themed images!

I don't mind the calendar, but I need a better task organizer that I can do the most complex things with only a few taps - also link it to the GPS (or alternate "offline" GPS that we will be making) if needed. This little tool should also link directly into the full calendar and be fully compatible with it. Let's call this little thing a "daily planner" or something similar.

i live in nyc, i bought the finesse when it first came out. the first question i asked was if youtube worked. they told me it did. i purchased the phone. realized youtube was not working. called 611 they said they need to reset my phone. this was done three times. i was assured by the representatives that youtube works. i asked to talk to her supervisor, twenty minutes later she comes back and says my supervisor is unavailable. she said if you want to make a complaint go to a coorprate store. i feel like metro pcs us taking advantage of us the customers, lying to us about features so they can sell us the phone. half the stuff done work. we are on the shitty cdma network. i feel like metropcs should offer a rebate to everyone who purchased this phone for missrepresenting their product. also its crazy they are not updating the network till january 2010.
The network isn't the issue! You can watch youtube on a pc that only has a 1400 baud fax modem. It downloads the movie and then you watch it. It may take a few days, but it's definitely possible.

It doesn't matter what metro does or doesn't do, because I have complete faith that the software can be made by us. You and me did not sign a contract, so the legality of hacking the phone is not an issue either. Technically we can do whatever we want to with it!

So even if I could wait for metro, this magical network update, and so on - why would I even want to even if the software might be exactly what we need for the issues that we have right now? No, I want a solution to as many future needs as possible. This phone should be hacked to perform any way we as a community want it to. We have needs and if we knew what to do right now to change things, why would I have a problem with it? Someone please tell me.

Anyways, on topic a little more. This isn't so much software as software support. I think the phone needs to first run native java, and then maybe run windows apps later on. However, as soon as java is available there are a bunch of things that we can do then that we can't do now.

Here's an idea...how about being able to reopen my images and notes from the notes app so i can work on them later.  I am an artist and doing some cool stuff with the drawing abilities in notes app...but i also need more than 16 lame colors to work with.  It has limited colors, runs out of ink quickly, and if you dont touch the screen for more than 30 seconds the phone locks itself. When you unlock the phone it dumps your image to the 'save or dont save' menu with no option to continue working....wtf?

I certainly hope this is not the case. I'm chekcing everything out on the phone and I guarantee them this... I will be taking this phone back to the store. I will not be making any calls on this phone simply checking out what I can and can't do... Hell, it's already been 2 hours since I've been trying to activate the service with no avail. As for software, I will tell you that you need better colors, more applications, and I better be able to download and upload movies, and everything form samsung for sure.

Why is java a no go? We just need a "My Apps" on the main menu that run java programs. If it has to be programmed in BREW, even if it's crazy hard, think of it as you're getting paid $350 to do it (price of the fin).

In the settings menu, you can set lock to manual.
