I propose a project where we users make an ongoing updated manual for our phone as the first official Featured Work for our humble forum. Please reply with suggestions for additions.

1. Manual. Here is the Google Document.
2. Sticky. Should be working on this one asap.

3. Video-rial. Who wants it? I feel odd putting my phone/voice/face(gasp!) on youtube.

Possibly. You mean one big series, one video, or just random videos?

Great idea! You get a cookie  Grin. Are you talking about a sticky Y or a full blown pdf gleaned from the observations of users? Video might kill the pdf idea, and a video would have to be continually updated or else we'd have a boatload of various videos on individual functions from many sources, and even those would become obsolete as the Fin progresses. Been there, hate that.

I like the manual idea better, with pictures to enhance the explanation. Easier to maintain, IMO. Suggestions come in from users and are vetted for accuracy and importance, then added or updated as needed.

I'd prefer one of each. I'll explain the concept for each.

1. Manual. PDF, printable. If this was a professional project I'd suggest having the original to be close to the dimentions of the box itself, but we have to assume everyone has some type of briefcase or PDA that can view PDF's. The concept is we rewrite the manual and have an official manual for the phone from this site. The content has to be polished and designed around what the user needs, not what corporate thinks we need to know.

2. Sticky. This complements the Manual and is designed to get the user up and running fabulous with the phone in less than 5 printable pages. Call this a form of a quick start pamphlet.

3. Video Log. We could make this professional (meaning we need 3d renders of the phone), but I'd prefer hands on youtube style. It rehashes the points in the "quick start sticky."

Precisely.

Sounds like a damn fine plan! Let me know when you plan to start. Definitely a video of "How To Remove The Friggin Battery Cover Without Cracking The Screen!" Angry

Yeah, isn't that in the official manual too?

Anyways, for fun we need to start posting videos timing ourselves for taking off the cover. I've noticed that with the more you take it off, it doesn't get any easier at all! At least you can't drop it and have the battery pop out! The screen may be destroyed but at least it stayed on this time. Oh well, here's another $84, metro. Oh, I've used the insurance too much? Crap!

well one thing is for sure they will certainly need a video converter thank God I already had them since I had an Ipod... here a link with many converters for different things...Your concept is absolutely correct we need this because samsung is not even trying to assist with issues. They told me that Metropcs wants us to use only their stuff.

I don't think you comprehend the situation. The contact system acts like one from a phone from a decade ago - you're limited to 500 contacts with only a few fields available per contact. If they allowed backing up of the contacts, you'd quickly see exactly how limited the system is.

And you know, I think metro designed it. I have a feeling if Samsung had any say so about the contact list, they would have made it completely different and much more functional.

Don't worry guys I'm still intent on making the manual. I add to it as we simplify the phone. We've been making it more complicated!
