My sad story is thus.
I purchased a used Finesse.
I verified with Metro that is was a clean ESN.
The phone needed a Battery and Charger.
I ordered and received the battery and charger.
When I tried to power it up it gave a flashing download message.
I called Samsung and sent it to them
Samsung returned it to me saying it was water damaged and unrepairable.
I sent it to unicom who told me it WAS working, however they did some work and returned it to me.
It works perfectly.
I than called metro to transfer my account to the Finesse.
Metro then told me that the phone was reported lost and the ESN is blocked.
Can  I change the ESN??
Can I use it on another network if I change some of the internal settings?
I know you can flash a Sprint to Metro, can you do the same Metro to say Boost or Sprint?
Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, thanks for the great tip.
I  am a Metro subscriber and I can activate a phone by calling them.
All I need than is to change the ESN and/or the MSID in the Finesse to another valid Metro ESN/MSID, RIGHT?
The 64 $ question is how do I do that?
I have some experience with  Linux as well as XP and DOS.
I have some linux boot disks that I used to increase drive size on Tivo and Directv PVR's.

any help would be most appreciated.

I am doing research on changing esn and meid. I was reading the threads on this posting and I dont get it. How the finesse has both esn and meid when I look at the spare cell phones I have they either have ESN or MEID but not both but when I get into the Finesse it seems to have both how is this possible? I though MEID where created to replace the ESN in 2005 since they ran out of different numerical combinations. So if I have a blocked Finesse Phone which one should I change? I am stuck at getting the .sys file in qpst. The nvm folder has a red cross through it! What do i do???
i have a full version of cdma workshop, QXMD professional, QPST, and Cygnus Hex. The proper drivers have been installed I have the unique spc #. What do I need to do to accomplish my task? Im stuck!!!
