The pics didn't really "bother" me so much as Samsung/MPCS NOT allowing you to change it out of the box.  Now THAT bothered me!  An end user shouldn't have to get into the phones file system to change something like that.  Something like that should be customizable right out of the box, no file system/hackintg required!

Anyone else change their wallpapers besides Hot_boy and I?  If anyone wants a step-by-step tutorial, I'll post one up, just let me know.

I think we're all interested in a way to do this without need for testsig.

@ Osti, g0pher, ybom...

Do any/all of you have access to your phones file system via QPST/EFS Explorer?

If so, can you do a quick test for me?  Please get into QPST (EFS Explorer, specifically) and navigate to the following directory (*if* you can see it): brew/mod/resources/wallpapers

I can't remember if I had visible access to this directory via QPST BEFORE I got BTIL/AppLoader installed on my computer and my phone.

If you indeed can get to this directory, you should see a bunch of files named:

Preloaded_01.gif
*_02.gif

And so on.

These are the stock wallpapers.

If you do have access via QPST, then folks won't need a valid test .sig file in order to modify the stock wallpapers.

If you can't see this directory via QPST, then folks WILL need a valid test .sig file.

I'm on my phone right now using QPST and I see the "resources" directory but I can't state for a fact one way or the other that ANYONE can see this directory vis QPST as I've been using AppLoader and BTIL instead.

I say this because as both xbox and Hot_Boy have said previously, if you put a 0 kb text document into directory "X" (previously unviewable in QPST) via AppLoader, that specific directory WILL become visible in QPST once the 0 kb text document has been uploaded.

I'm not sure if it will work this way as I'm unsure if QPST can see the *resources* folder, but you can try and let us know!

*First you need to get your MSl/SPC code.  You can get that by going here:

http://www.samsung-finesse.com/index.php?topic=495.0

*Then you need to download and install the Samsung USB Drivers. (Search the forum)

*Download and install QPST

*Connect your phone to your computer via the usb cable and make sure the phone is NOT in "Mass Storage Mode."

*Open QPST and you should see your phone in the pop up box.  Enter your SPC number into the box and click OK.

*Navigate to the following directory:

brew/mod/resources/wallpapers

If you indeed can get to this directory, you should see a bunch of files named:

Preloaded_01.gif
*_02.gif

And so on.

These are the stock wallpapers.

*Save an image (240px X 400px) and name it Preloaded_01.gif (MUST be the EXACT file name and file type of .gif)

*Overwrite the Preloaded_01.gif file with your new Preloaded_01.gif file.

*Do that for all 15 pictures depending if you want just one pic to come up or if youy want multiple pics to come up....

That's the quick rundown.  And that is even if you can see the directory via QPST.  I'll try and put  together some screen shots at some point.
