I am Finessful!

At a birthday party recently, I tried to get the phone to record the whole birthday song and the blowing out of the candles. To my surprise, it would only record 15 second clips. I couldn't figure out what to do! I had to settle for recording with my Samsung Hue (which isn't bad but it isn't the cool new camera phone I so badly wanted to record something major with).

I spent about 30 minutes decrypting the camcorder section of the manual later that night. No help at all for this issue. But then I got a hint of what to do. Some setting involving Video Msg! Dun dun dun!

Anyways, here is the solution. Go to your camcorder and hit the "Recording Mode" button on the left side. It should look like a movie reel. Normal goes by memory capacity, and Video Msg goes for 15 seconds only. On normal setting you'll see a timer on the recordings rather than the xx/15 tomfoolry.

Unfortunately, the timer is a click timer. Sad that you can only have a 15 second recording timer or nothing. Thumbs down.

I just tested my Finesse's camcorder and putting the video to the memory card I went past 2 minutes and it was still going when I stopped recording. It looks to me like the only thing that limits the video length is the amount of memory in the camera.

Funny, I've never been able to get past 10 minutes on an 8gb storage card. According to the manual, you can record a video until the storage runs out.

That's what the manual says. Haven't tried it with a 8gb card yet, but I'd love to see just how long you can record in normal mode with 8gb. When I get my 16gb card, I'm going to give it a shot. Not too hopeful that it will work, but maybe some enterprising hacker can update the firmware.

Do you have the Finesse saving to the phone or memory card?

I would leave it set to the card at all times. If for any reason you need to save to the phone, just pop out the card for a second. If this doesn't work (works on my Hue), that's something that needs to be addressed while we mod the phone.

It's not on message mode. Even if it were, I'd never get 10 minutes of video. When I get through updating my Lenovo S10 with OSX, I'll get back to it.

I know I recorded longer than 10 minutes with the fin. I have to retry with mine again soon. As soon as I can get it back that is. Lol. I do what I can here, without it, for now. Does this mean I have to spend another $349 just so I have one? Sheesh.

Not sure what you're talking about. I know how to select the type of storage.

I'll try it again with another 8gb card.

He's just saying not to forget that step. Doing this properly is a 2 step process.
