Hi everyone, I'm fairly new here (been lurking unregistered a while).
I don't know if any of you use Cellular South (primarily MS based carrier), but I thought I'd post some info on tethering the Finesse, or almost any CS handset to a PC for use as a modem.
Cellular South uses two different data plans, one for "phones", the other for PDA's. I'll cover both. This is strictly the login information required to access the internet, not a walkthrough of how to connect the device to your PC.
"phone" data plan - (finesse, evoke, normal handsets)
The following information is required by the connection dialog box on your PC:
login: <MIN>@cs3g.com (example:
6015550245@cs3g.com) (note - MIN = mobile identification number, usually different from your phone number. Not to be confused with MDN. Can be found in service programming.)
password: cs3gdialup #: #777"PDA" data plan (the more expensive one) - (blackberry, WM PDA's, etc...)
The following information is required by the connection dialog bos on your PC:
login: same as above.password: 8 digit hexadecimal ESN (Electronic Serial Number) - ALL CAPS (on the back of the phone I think)
dialup #: #777That's pretty much it. CS uses unlocked handsets with (usually) no special restrictions. I've tethered quite a few devices over the years with good results. I'm currently using my Finesse tethered to my notebook via bluetooth.
Please fire away with any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
