oh you have a 64bit to ... maybe you could help me ... i did it once and now it seems that i can not assign the phones com port . i looked in the device manager like before to change it but now it dont show . so when i start up qpst it dont even see the phone , i tried reading up on it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817900   i tried it idk ... as for Method 3: Disable and re-enable the USB controller . none of them show the name of the usb devise so i dont know if its the right one ill be disabling . i know that the computer sees it on my computer is (m:) drive . and the phone says pc connection mode ...

I got a copy of BrewTools. It comes with the app loader too, but in order to load apps
to our phone we need a digital signature. Also when I try to sync my fin to
BrewTools it doesnt see it because our phones need to be flashed by qualcom in
order for it to work with these tools. Brew Tools is not Brew SDK. Also you have to
be a registered developer to get it but I found a copy through some searching.

Here is the link for BrewTools

This page implies that there are specific formats for specific devices (here we go with hex files again!)

Maybe we should get in contact with Qualcomm?

the drivers for the phone ... i dont know about xp and vista 32 but with ours it should have 5 ..
samsung cdma modem driver set
samsung mobile modem driver set
samsung mobile usb modem 1.0 software
samsung mobile usb modem software
samsung pc studio 3 usb driver installer

it just may be 1 or 2 that needs to be reinstalled but i did them all , didnt feel like trial and error ...

Does the list of items that you mentioned above mean that you can connect your Fin to PC Studio 3?  If that's so, do you get all the app's features?

Thank you so much for your effort with the video.  The only thing is (and it is probably, because unlike you, I AM really a NEWBIE  Embarrassed) I didn't really see all the steps in the video as you mention in the post.  Is there a second part coming or did I just miss it?  Do you have a "For Dummies" version of the instructions? I will love to try to do this, but I'm not sure I could with what I saw.

Thanks in advance.

itechiee, thanks for the steps bro it really worked. i avoided tsx's method and used urs and Qpst 2.7 build 301 - found my phone.

Details of my experience: At first Qpst would not detect it because I had installed Samsung PC Studio 3.0 (it was running the drivers that came with it), so I did a FULL/complete uninstall using a program called Your Uninstaller. it wiped out any installations of samsung drivers and registry keys. i restarted my pc, disconnected the phone. after the restart, installed the samsung usb drivers from the link u provided, restarted again. connected phone, turned on qpst, did a comm port add and found! very simple method, thanks again itechiee.

now to tether it...

Sorry no part two but I do suggest pausing the video after each step to make sure
you do it right..  Wink
