I haven't got around to using QPST because it's a filesystem viewer (not an editor of any type). Is there another tool that lets you change things?

Thanks to TSX and a few other members on other Forums <Dont Remember Names>
I GOT IT on the first try>> I have 2.74 build 323. Im going to add that the average person really has no business using QPST. Does anyone have a QPST Manual or turturial. I just downloaded everything got my SPC and it worked the first time. This is my first time using QPST, honestly never had a phone that pist me off as much as the UI for the Fin so I never needed it. I want to see what the capabilities of QPST are with out just flat out "experimenting". If anyone can, drop a link for a Manual.
The possibilies got my attention but I need to learn some more about the whole Handheld World. I'd imagine it isn't too far off from PC's ie /Windows and Linux. Any info will be helpful, Ill post my findings.

**Ill post all the links I have found in one Post for people who have not got it yet.

QPST is made by qualcomm so you might want to start there.

HAS ANYONE GOTTEN THIS TO WORK WITH VISTA?!?!?!?!?!?!

I've spent almost 2 weeks trying to figure this out, and I'm, simply put, STUMPED.

My issue it not being able to assign a port to my FIN becuase vista doesnt SHOW ports/coms/lptd or what the heck ever in Device Manager.

There must be another route ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

connect your fin to the pc, then goto the QPST folder in your start menu, select QPST configuration. Hit the ports tab, then select add new port. Your phone should come up on that list, should say something like USB.

Select it and press ok.. close the configuration tool, and then re-open the service programming... thats how i managed to make qpst work with my phone.

good luck

eryone has it working with vista

Thats great, becuase its not working for me and im getting tired of uninstalling everything and trying everything over, reading and rereading every single step over and over again before making a move.

When I hit "add new port" the only thing that comes up is COM3. On the list theres com1 and com2 already there. and i can add com3, but it says no phone.

Sorry you are having so much trouble with this. In device manager can you see your phone? If so try to assign a port number. Then in QPST use the same port number.

OK IVE GOTTEN QPST FIGURED OUT

all i need to know is how to assign a port in vista. what i dont understand is why in device manager there is no tab for ports/coms/lptd or what ever. thats where im stumped. if i  could just figure out where to acess available ports i would be able to assign it and set it up in QPST (tho admittadly i might have to ask for a little help on figuring out how to get QPST to look at that port, but im almost certain i could figure that out on my own.)

ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS HOW PEOPLE RUNNING VISTA ASSIGNED THEIR FIN TO A PORT.

someone mentioned that when they opened QPST they clicked "look for usb's" too but when i click that nothing changed Undecided

heres a pic of what i see in device manager.

my pc does reconise it to a certain degree, under USB controllers its mentioned, but properties doesnt allow me to assign a port. ALSO when i right click and hit "update drivers" but dont search the web and look for the drivers on my hard drive, theres some option where i can assign already installed drivers and I  SWEAR TO GO ON THAT LIST IS "PORTS/COMS" but i cant get acess to it. :-(

help :-(
