1. Log onto you email account.
2. start with a new message
3. attach the desired mp3 sound
4. send it to    1yournumber@mymetropcs.com       example:  15555555@mymetropcs.com
5. hit send, you should receive the mp3 shortly.

if you get a email saying there was some sort of error it is because the file was too big.

I convert the mp3 to a 64kbps and keep em under 40 second long and it always works.
I also use yahoo email.

Also, you can use a spare microsd card and move them. No need to limit them to 64kbps that way.

Oh my god.. FINALLY!!
I've been trying for weeks doing research trying to get ringtones and it seems everyone was having the same problem as me.
I tried this and in fact got an error message on my email. I changed the .mp3 file to a .qcp file and TA-DA it sent straight to my phone, downloaded, played, and I was able to save it.

Thank you so much for this secret!! It helped a great deal!! Smiley

No problem, if you lower the bitrate under 124kbps and keep the ringtone under 40 seconds it
will work for mp3's too.. Play with it a little and you'll see...

you can put the bit rate on average 38 - 45 and the song will sound normal . giving you around 1:30 of music and still is small enough to e-mail to your phone .....

Forgot how I did it now, but I've got a full length "Ain't Waistin' Time No More" mp3 as my ringtone. Song is somewhere north of three minutes. A some point I'll crop it, but it opens up a boat load of options having access to your song collection as ringtones.
