« on: July 14, 2009, 07:32:02 AM »

Its now working 100%

Updated: 5-12-10

If you use the Samsung PST and R810DLL, you DO NOT need to use QPST!!

Skip over the QPST info and goto the Samsung PST section.

the "HOW TO":
In Samsung PST goto settings. Check the EV-DO box and click "read form phone".....
After the read is complete the items will be populated on the right hand side of the screen.

Change all: (your number)@modem.metropcs.com to (your number)@pda.metropcs.com
Change DUN to "enabled"

Then click "Write to Phone"

Updated: 7-22-09

Here is a quick vid on the connection working
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UnKdeBHu6E

Make no mistake! These programs can kill your phone if used wrong!! I nor this site take any responsabilty for your actions useing these programs.... DO NOT change any settings other than the ones outlined here. Or unless you know what you are doing.

Software you will need:
-USB drivers

-CDMA-Workshop (optional, but needs to be full version)
-Samsung PST (Full not Lite) <~~ http://rapidshare.com/files/97615158/_771034_SAMSUNG_PST.zip ( use option 02 SW)
-R810 DLL file (needed for PST to read and write phone)
Install files in the order above, PST needs to be installed before DLL

Note: the R810 DLL is not available publicly...yet  Wink (need just a little more time)

Settings for Fin:

QPST SETTINGS:

1. Plug in phone to USB
2. Goto start >> QPST >> Service Programming
3. Connect to you phone in the service programming tool. You will need you SPC code!
4. Click "Read form Phone" ... it will read settings from your phone and display them in the tool.
5. Click "Save to File" <~~~BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA!!!!!!!!!!
6. Goto the tab that says M.IP....

7. Double click the profile 0 (top one) and it will open a new window...

8. Change the tethering from <yournumber>@modem.mymetropcs.com to <yournumber>@pda.mymetropcs.com. CLICK OK.

9. Goto PPP Config Tab

10. Change the tethering from <yournumber>@modem.mymetropcs.com to <yournumber>@pda.mymetropcs.com
11. Now click write to phone. The phone should reboot. Check all you stuff like Web, MMS, ect to make sure they still work. If so, then save the current setting you have in the service programming tool <~~ more backups  Grin

<end of QPST SETTINGS>

CDMA-Workshop Settings:
Use this, because the DLL is not public yet for SamsungPST.
You WILL need to have the registered version to write NV items... its $100.
I might post "local services" for people that live near me, so i can write the NV for them Smiley

1. Open CDMA workshop.
2. Select your com port and click "connect"
3. Goto "security tab".. then enter the 16digit password 2008102120080228 and click send

4. You SPC will pop up in the SPC window to the right. Click "SPC" button ... then send SPC.
5. Goto "Memory" Tab, Click read NV Items...

6. Select the range you want to read... HEX = 17FB

7. Click "OK" ... you will be promted to SAVE the NVitem to a txt file... call it what ever you want.
8. Open the txt file the CDMA workshop made..
9. Edit the first byte from "00" to "01" and save it....

10. Goto "Memory" Tab.
11. Click "write NVItem"
12. You will be prompted to open a txt file.... SELECT THE FILE FROM ABOVE (after you saved changes)
13. CDMA will write the NVItem... less than 1 sec.

14. Reboot phone for changes to take effect!

<end CDMA-Workshop Settings>

Samsung PST settings:

1. Open the Samsung PST.
2. Select the R810 from the list. New window will open...
3. Click settings on the left side
WARNNG: THIS IS YOUR IMPORTANT SETTINGS FOR YOUR PHONE!!! Any misuse or carelessness WILL kill your phone!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. Click "Select All" The click "Read From Phone" ... Your phone will reboot , and the PST will tell you when its done.

5. CLICK "SAVE MMC FILE" !!!!!!!!!!! <~~~~BACK UP YOUR DATA!!!!!!!
6. Click "clear all" ... this will un-check the items
7. Click the check box for IS-95 ...

8. Click "Write to Phone" ....and hold your breath  Wink
9. DO NOT STOP THE PROCESS, or UNPLUG YOUR PHONE... you phone will reboot and PST will tell you if it was ok or not.

<end Samsung PST Settings>

Settings needed for PC:
Create a NEW Dial Up Networking Connection...
The ISP name is: *whatever.. read below
The username is: *whatever.. read below
The password is: *whatever.. read below
The connection number is: #777  <~~ this is the number to dial....with the # sign.

*It does not matter what you call the ISP, username, or password.... the phone sends that info itself... so put whatever you want in those boxes! This is why we change the "modem" to "pda" in QPST...  Grin Grin

In IE you will need to goto Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections Tab >> Settings for DUN ...
Check the box for "Use a proxy server for this connection" and enter wap.metropcs.net in the address box and 3128 in the port box.

UPDATE: 8/23/09

Great work!

I wish I knew more about cell phone hacking/programming, otherwise I'd be working every free minute on cracking this thing!

If there is anything a layman can do to assist, let me know and I'd be more than happy to help!

Take it easy.

I'm "pretty sure" you can hook your phone up via USB, but I could be wrong...

And one other thing, you're going to need the Samsung USB driver as well.  They posted it on some topic on the forum somewhere.

how to get the phone to sync with the pc. i have the usb drive but its not communicating through the port.

Does the computer recognize the device in device manager?

Right click on "my computer" and go to "manage," then "device manager" you should be able to see your phone in there.  If not, you could maybe use a reboot. Although my computer didn't require one when I installed the USB driver yesterday afternoon.  Once I saw that it recognized the device (I saw a little pop up bubble saying "USB Mass Storage Device ready for use" on the right side task bar and when I opened QPST, I could see my phone attached to the proper COM port.

With regards to synching the PC to the phone, I have yet to try so I wouldn't know if it works and how to do it.  Have you searched the forums?  I'm not sure, but for some nagging reason, in the back of my head, I think I read something about synching contacts w/the fin...  It may have been HowardForums though.  I can't remember the specifics like if it worked or not or how to do it.  Try googling it maybe?  Definitely check these boards though!

Can you explain step by step how you setup the dial up connection. I keep getting an error code:777,
"The connection attempt failed because the modem ( or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order." I got it to work with qpst and device manager but it won't work with the dialup connection i set. I also tryed changing ports but still nothing.

I am useing the USB cable that came with the phone.

If you have the drivers installed correctly and you phone pluged in you should be able to see in the device manager:

- Samsung Com Port COm#
- Samsung Modem <~~under modems, not ports

@joejohn:
It wont work, because the feature on the phone is turned off... i am working on a way so eveyone will be able to turn it on

just tried and it didnt work.  I see it in Modem and Com in my device manager, but no luck.  What phone number do I need to set it to dial on the dial up connection?  If you have time, can you give us a step by step with a bit more detail?

Thanks!
