It allows you to use your cellphone as a modem.

Its called tethering. With this you will be able to have a mobile connection to the internet... on your PC.

there is no bandwidth cutoff and i siriously can t figure out who is phreaking in here ...so if you can put coins in your phone and you hear a dial tone you might wanna consider going back where you bought the phone and demand a refund....

phreaking is not just payphones, it hacking any phone or phone system..........and yes its an old school term but it fits, or do you just prefer "cell phone hacking"? and yes i know it does not involve a "box". the internet connection is faster on the phone than on the computer, so it is losing bandwith somewhere......

i have to disagree on the speedloss there

i get about 20-25kb/s downstream on the phone and about 10 up
that is actually a decent speed for high data rate connections
if you loose speed i would look at your pc and the settings on there

!YAY! I have FINALLY gotten everything to work right. I wont tell you how becuase you would probably laff at me if I told you how I spent damn near 16 hours hunched over my PC right clicking everything in view and almost bricking my phone twice. Oops...

IT IS OFFICIAL, I HAVE THE CONNECTION. I have the connection set up, and its functioning...its just I dont understand why I can be on AIM but cant view webpages. I read what wraith3845 said about proxy settings, and us needing to wait for a Vista fix... I guess I'm just wondering if anyone had made any headway, or is willing to put any effort into it. I would absolutely LOVE to help in ANY manner I can, you name it its done.

I'm only stressing becuase my internet is about to get shut off, and I have a few vital projects running I can abandon (and cant run from the fin LOL) one of the legal ones I'm willing to share is my musical project, give it a listen and if you find you like it enough maybe that would be motivation enough for you to help :-)

I want to thank everyone here on the forums who have dealt with my shinanigans(sp?) especially you xbox (congrats on the .dll and new firmware, btw!) and to g0pher (I will be harassing you on AIM first chance I get :-D) and to everyone else who has put their time and effort into hackingphreakingbreaking"updating" this finesse from a piece of **** MPCS phone into a FULL FLEDGED SMARTPHONE.

WELCOME TO THE REVOLUTION BABY.

oh, and

HEY GUYS; back again mwhaha
ok with ALOT more right clicking and some fine tuning, ive actually got my browser to work. im using the agent switcher, with the correct settings, and HERE I AM POSTING ON MY NEW DUN CONNECTION. its actually not as slow as i thought it would be, and im greatful.

however, just two more questions and im set :-)
(i loooove you guys :-D)

what settings should i set bit torent for? this is as far as ive gotten, and it starts the torrent (tells me how many seeds/peers and just generally looks like it downloading) but it doesnt start.

also, in myspace, i get a huge runtime error if i try to login/go to anywhere BUT the homepage.

suggestions?

in order for any filesharing prog to work you need to go and get a vpn tunnel which enables you to use most ports avaiable

on my netbook i use anchor free http://www.anchorfree.com/
it is able to connect through your finesse and all the blocks metro put on it

the reason some browsers like ie and firefox are not working is because metro blocks the user agent string on the proxy

with anchor free you do not need any proxy
i am successfully using this setup since a couple weeks and i am very happy with it

if you mind teh ads on anchorffree  you can see if you can get your own vpn server going through port 433

this will be my next project and i will give you guys a howto / installable linux cd to acomplish this

Greetings & Salutations, xboxhacker!

I recently purchased an R810 unit with Metro PCS service and would like to set-up this DUN Connection you've developed.  However, I'm a newbie and can't seem to find all of the required software.  Already have downloaded SAMSUMG PST from the link you provided, but haven't been able to find QPST or CDMA-WORKSHOP - not to mention the R810 DLL file.  If possible, kindly assist a fellow finesser Cool

I'll go ahead and say it. My bad. Real Life has screwed me over working on the Technical Manual. I might have a bit of time today. I think what you're asking for is the one of the most pertinent subjects to be covered. You can find the appropriate links in the HowTo and the Targeted Efforts subforums. We always love helping hands to the cause. I'll PM you if I run across those links.

Thanks for caring YBOM!!!  Grin
I've already found a trial version of CDMA WORKSHOP and also a cracked version  (cdma_workshop_FREE.rar) - will either work for this purpose?  I've also located 3 different version of QPST:  QPST 2 7 Build 215, QPST 2 7 build 264, & huawie-qpst-2-7-qualcomm.  Could you also please tell me if either of these will work for me.  The only other requirement posed by xbox in the instructions is the R810 DLL file - where might I find this one?  Now, while searching on this forum I read that these techniques are not recommended for noobs?  Relatively speaking - how difficult would it be for me to accomplish this task.  I am motivated about setting up this DUN CONNECTION VIA METRO PCS, especially since at present I do not have a dedicated Internet Connection for my laptop (DIAL-UP, DSL, WIFI or otherwise).  Please advise - TXS & RGDS
