Click (Picture Message) and then click where it says (text). You go from 160 characters to 1000. As you can see more room to write that longer text you just had to write.

Still, does this count as a MMS instead of a SMS? Not really important for MPCS customers, but it might be for who's getting the message (I think just to receive a MMS it costs Alltel customers 50 cents ouch).

I think the bigger cell phone companies are taking users for fools. At least with metro PCS I know I get what I pay for. And frankly it has been a lot.

I figured this out about 4 days ago and was like wow! It really helps in stead of sending two or three sms messages.

I dunno if this is a good idea... if I have a long convo with my friends if they dont have picture plans a simple free text could cost them 25 cents to 50 cents.

FWIW, Boost Mobile has a similar $50 plan to MPCS. Haven't compared features though.

My suspicion is that more than a few of the phone companies will switch to or include a $50 unlimited plan as MPCS eats into their market share.

As for the texting limit, it's not my biggest concern. I think I've sent maybe ten messages since I've had the phone. All of them very, very short.

I have a good friend that refuses to have a cell because he hates to talk to people like that. I mentioned that MPCS basically threw unlimited text/web at you with their service, and he was like "well that's a bit different". MPCS is subconsciously reprogramming America with their "Unlimit yourself" tag, just like MagicJack is with their $20/year phone service.
