Right on xboxhacker,
I am a professional Quality Assurance Specialist (software tester), and I can verify that software dev is like a bell curve. The first 6 months I was on my current project (
www.totimm.com), the damn soldier's had no walking animations and every weapon used the same M4 magazine. With in a 1 1/2 month period, the platform became this beautiful, elegant and robust military simulation platform. Give the cycle some time... It will be well worth it, and the "Ah Hah!" moments along the way are priceless...
Disclaimer: I don't work for the military, I'm am employed with a SF Bay Area start up. I neither support or condone the past, present or future behavior of the Armed Forces. I am simply a virtual reality enthusiast and working father supporting my family at a job I absolutely love and am very proud of. Please don't flame me about the Military. I would love to talk about my job (seriously, ask my wife

) for those interested though, as long as it isn't a debate on the ethics of creating software used to train people to kill people. That's not what it is about at all...
