OK..so I got bold and reflashed my phone with the awsomeness that xbox provided. As stated it works but no web and mms.

So anway I get to entering what i assume to be the correct settings for the web. No problems so far everything is going great. Then my phone turns off and comes back on with "initial programming required"

no problem I've programmed a phone or two...so I'm looking and EVERYTHING has gone to default. Not normally a problem except now it says searching for SVC with no reception and unable to connect to pc.

Anyone have any thoughts on where to go or what to do?

I have my original backup of the settings as well as a few modified versions. I entered the original settings as best I could and no longer have "initial programming required" on the screen. I still have no reception and "searching for svc"

Once I or we get this figured out I'll try loading a modified version of the flash (still working on a few changes). I just can't figure out what went wrong. I'm more concerned with why at this point but I would like to avoid turning in a brick to metro.

Updated as of 11:50AM
Working/active:
Bluetooth
gps
media player
and all apps that don't require service
pc connection
ring tones
memory card

not working:
radio signal
web
mms
widgets that came with flash(visible not downloaded)
anything that requires a signal

Test Mode:
ADMIN or MOD feel free to add to this or move it where you want it.

Figured I'd give this a shot while I'm already in a pickle. From what I gathered you enter 3 digit codes and use the # key to move to the next command. I have done the basic ones but am finding it to be very trick not to change anything. when in doubt hit #
I'm still looking for an exit to this mode.
002 - Restart Phone
001 - Suspend
111 - Set dev DB (value 001100110011)
just press # or you'l have to re-enter the number

112 - "FUNC READ000"

123 -
"ec mode
VAL[00]00001"
the brackets are actually upper limit brackets. I'm not changing anything here!!

222 - Bright1 (value 000)
displays a white screen at brightness 0-100 for about 10 seconds. 020 was dull so I'l going to assume that was 20% THIS IS VERY HARD TO GET OUT OF SO AVOID IT IF POSSIBLE

333 - currently displays "No Find Cmd"

444 - displays the following
"No Pull
BAT Con: 2"

555 - "Lamp    On"

666 - "PA1 FALL  108"

777 - "No Find Cmd"

888 - PCM loop off

999 - Check CH.000

OK so I broke down and got some sleep. a whopping ~4 hours before a nice loud knock on my door and my dad barging in...I need to change the locks.

anyway, after changing the brakes on the car it hit me. I haven't restarted my computer in a couple weeks so why not try it. so after that ordeal (yes its a hassle) I was able to connect and write all the original settings.

I guess I need to call metro for the AKEY which I think means activation key. I'm hoping that is the only thing left to input. if not i'll be looking at $85 or so for a new phone. which would help out since I'll essentially have a test device.

long story short get some sleep kids.

So no reception? this happened to me once, i was messing with Test Mode and mess up my phone.
Go into Test Mode and press 027 you should see TEST S: ##### Change the 5 digit # to 00000 and that should get you back signal on your finesse

Gracias   Grin

I'm going to give this phone until the end of the day then activate my warranty....its close to day 30 Yay. Not so much the not working issue but today is going to be my last real day off for a while.

Now that I know the reflash does work, and I snagged all the initial values from it I can begin to building a real flash. hehe forget metroFlash ...jdubFlash coming soon.

i'm going to be working in the dark for the most part, I'm not nearly as connected as xbox working with 'z germans' (much respect to you man)

From my understanding, the fin has a year warranty against defective phones. So if you brick it, you can bring it into mpcs store and claim 'dumb' as i was told by my buddy freebird. Anyway, paying the $85 would prob be better since you can say you lost it and have a true test phone...

@jdub49er...

As described in the firmware post, did you make a "BACKUP" of your settings in SPST?

Are you still unable to connect to your phone via PC?

I sometimes have problems connecting to my phone via PC.... this might sound dumb, but plug the USB into a different USB port. Reboot phone, then move it to a new port.... sometimes this worked for me.

i was able to get nearly everything working again. i did have a backup of the pre-flash settings. however i found that they are not complete for the new version and certain things have  to be  input manually.

the carrier id is one of those. spst does not allow a change on the reflash. this does not change with the flash but, it gets set to 82 with refurbish.

i already replaced the phone but, i am running the new flash virtually.

this of course would not be possible without all the previous work everyone has done.

Can you help me be brave enough, like walking me through the steps to doing this? I'll probably be able to update one of the featured documents if you do.

I'm currently using brew simulator with a modified device pack. I am unsure if everything is working correctly for this phone at the moment. The included features do appear to run. I'll try to detail the step to do this later.

I have to adhere to a very strick timeline set by the source of the files. FYI corporate espionage is alive and well.   Grin
